"Angie Situation" was once a 600+ paged manuscript that rested in the offices of Harpo Studios in October-November 1997 under the (undecided) narrative (catchy) title: "Keeping Secrets," which (in 2010 / *2011) was finally published under the titled: "Angie Situation," which she decided to break down into a 3-book drama/trilogy as a result of the stages of the protagonist's experiences: (*INNOCENCE, NAIVETE & SOPHISTICATION).
The "Angie Situation" title came about because it was merely catchy. And since it is written in first-person narrative, by Angela Sherice, she simply gave it that title, as opposed to an elaborate one.
The "Angie Situation" trilogy is a merely a story about a girl and a journey throughout every awkward to "normal," stage of development: emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.
It is sometimes racy, sometimes emotional, sometimes heart-tugging, humorous, sometimes nostalgic, and sometimes downright vile-but definitely textured and flows naturally with the plot, concept and experiences of the protagonist: "Angie."
In book one alone: ("Angie Situation INNOCENCE"), you journey with her while identifying with and learning about everything from bullying to peer-pressure, molestation, sexuality, tween growing pangs, the mentor-mentee relationship, sexuality/sexual identity/bi-sexuality, teenage love and rebellion, teenage angst, the parent-child relationship (father-daughter/mother-daughter), elitism/classicism and even teenage pregnancy-all in a fast-paced and dramatic read like you have never experienced.
This trilogy is written with the intent [to obviously] entertain, but to also ennoble you, empower you and and inform you...in hopes of provoking thought and consideration pulled from every emotion inside of you.
Angela Sherice thoroughly embraces freedom of speech/freedom of the press "rights" however, she does not take advantage of that privilege by writing for shock value, but rather in hopes that her readers, too, will see themselves or someone else somewhere in her work and in other cases; hope not to see others in some of her characters. In hopes of using the character(s) and situation(s) to engage in mature dialogue, because it is indeed a "situation," whereby the end of all three books; its readers will be left up to decide and conclude whether she lived life or find that life lived her..
Although the Angie Situation trilogy is written in a way that you can still follow it should you read it out of sequence, it would be good to read the prequel: "Angie Situation (INNOCENCE)" first. The excerpts may tell a story but they do not tell the story.
In book2 (Naivete') and book3 (Sophistication), Angela Sherice does not "re-introduce" you to a particular character, their personality, their story or reason behind a happening/scene. So, yes, it would be good to get and read book1 before book 2 and book 3 drops).
I hope that you enjoy them all. I appreciate it.
Gracefully,
Angela Sherice
